Afghanistan have named former Georgia tactician Petar Segrt as their new national team head coach.
The 49-year-old Croatian coach replaces Slaven Skeledzic, who departed after having a short-lived tenure in the Central Asian nation since being appointed in February this year.
His first task with the Lions of Khorasan is a 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup joint qualifiers against Cambodia at Takhti Stadium in Tehran on November 12.
The German-born coach, who holds the UEFA Pro License, previously worked in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Premier League club NK Zvijezda Gradacac.
Segrt also had a managerial experience in Asian football when he plied his three years trade in Indonesia with Bali Devata and PSM Makassar from 2010 to 2013.
