Australia’s Dhaka game in doubt

The Socceroos’ crunch World Cup qualifier with in Dhaka later this month will be subject to a last-minute security summit with FIFA.

A key security official from the world governing body will meet with a delegation from the football associations of both countries on Saturday to assess plans for the November 17 match.

Football Federation chief executive David Gallop says the safety of travelling Socceroos and support staff is his chief concern.

Last month, Cricket Australia cancelled its tour of the South Asian country due to safety concerns.

The federal government’s travel advisory bulletin asks Australians in Bangladesh to ‘exercise a high degree of caution’.
