Alireza Haghighi and Ehsan Hajsafi will miss the 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup joint qualifiers against Guam on next Tuesday after the rejection of their visa applications to enter the United States territory.
Team Melli could be also missing their skipper, Andranik Teymourian and winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh ahead of their trip to the East Asian nation after those two players’ visa also haven’t been issued yet.
While another key players Jalal Hosseini, Vouria Ghafouri and Sardar Azmoun will also miss the clash due to injuries, giving a further headache to Carlos Queiroz in his team preparation.
Regarding the situation, there are no any official statements from both Iran Football Federation (FFIRI) and Guam Football Association (GFA) while the AFC and FIFA have also not shown any concerns so far.
Previously, Guam also complained about difficulties in obtaining visas for Iran and received world-wide media echo, which later their visas were granted days ahead of the clash in Tehran last September.
