FIFA has decided to postpone the upcoming 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup joint qualifiers campaign of Kuwait after their federation was banned from international stage.
The West Asian nation had enjoyed a strong start to their qualifying campaign, having taken ten points from their opening five games in the second round of the Asian section.
However, the 1980 Asian Cup winners could not continue their journey following the suspension which was imposed last month over a dispute concerning government interference within the country’s football.
Kuwait are initially scheduled to face Myanmar in a neutral venue at Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on next Tuesday. It is also unclear when the postponed match can be played.
