Myanmar’s champions has secured the service of former Corinthians striker Edison Dos Santos from Brazilian second-flight side XV de Piracicaba.
A product of the famous SC Corinthians youth system, Edison arrives in Myanmar from second-tier South Korean side Seoul E-Land FC where he scored 14 times in 27 appearances on loan from XV de Piracicaba.
“I understand that Yangon United FC is the most famous club in Myanmar and my agent has told me of the success that Brazilian players have had here. That’s why I signed with Yangon,” Edison said via a post on the club’s Facebook page.
Edison’s career has also taken him to top-flight Hungarian outfit Kecskeméti TE and the player enjoyed great success at regular Maltese champions Hibernians.
Edison will be the only foreigner play for Yangon in Mekong Club Championship as all four of their foreigners from last season, including prolific striker Cezar Augusto, have left the club.
Yangon United also appointed former Timor Leste coach Emerson Alcântara as the new head coach for the team.
Yangon will face Lao Toyota FC at Thuwunna YTC Stadium on November 22 in the first round match of Mekong Club Championship.
They will then travel to Cambodia to face Boeung Ket Angkor FC next weekend.
