Yangon’s coach Emerson Alcantara expressed his satisfaction after his team recorded a big win 5-2 over Lao Toyota in Mekong Club Championship.
Debutant Adilson Souza opened the scoring with a brace of goals in only 20 minutes before three quick goals through David Htan, Kyaw Ko Ko and Yan Aung Kyaw in the second half put the match to and end.
The visitors only score twice as consolation thanks to the foreigners duo Kazuo Homma and Frédéric Pooda.
“My team was very disciplined and showed what it meant to wear the shirt. They did well,” said Yangon’s new coach Emerson Alcantara after the game.
“It was Adilson’s first game in Asia. In two weeks, he will play even better.”
The margin of victory places Yangon in a strong position for the November 29 trip to Cambodia. The Lions need only a draw to advance to the semi-final where Vietnamese side Becamex Bình Duong await.
However, that will most likely not prevent the Lions from playing attacking football.
“It is very dangerous when the players think about drawing. We will play to win,” Alcantara.
