Rayo Vallecano coach Paco Jemez has attempted to play down his side’s interest in Japanese defender Daisuke Suzuki.
The 25-year-old had been linked with a move to the Spanish La Liga outfit with some reports claimed that a deal for the Kashiwa Reysol centre-back in January had already completed.
However, Jemez has moved to calm excitement regarding the possible arrival of Suzuki and insisted that he has not heard anything about the transfer rumours.
“I don’t know the player and I’m surprised about (reports of an) offer. (Sporting director) Felipe Minambres hasn’t told me about the player,” Jemez told reporters.
“I’m not saying it’s a lie or the truth, but I’ve never seen him play and I don’t know his position, neither have I heard anything within the club which leads me to think he’ll join. I would’ve been told (otherwise). I don’t know where he’ll go.”
Suzuki has made 57 appearances for Kashiwa Reysol since joining the J-League’s side from Albirex Niigata in 2012.
