Malaysian giants Johor Darul Ta’zim have been drawn against Thai outfit Muangthong United in the Asian Champions League play-offs east zone.
The Southern Tigers will battle Muangthong in a one-legged game in Bangkok for a place in the third and final round of qualifying stage after being given a first-round bye following the improvement of Malaysia’s member association ranking in the AFC.
Of the other ties of east zone, Vietnamese team Hanoi T&T and Hong Kong side Kitchee captures the imagination, while Myanmar club meet another Thai side as Yangon United take on – to be determined – Thai Premier League third-placed team.
