Myanmar National League champions Yangon United have recruited Brazilian striker Marcelo Fernandes from A.D. Cabofriense.
Marcelo Fernandes, 24, has played in Europe for Austrian club – Wacker Innsbruck in 2011-12 season when he scored 6 times in 11 matches. He also had experiences with many clubs in Brazil such as São Bernardo, São Caetano and most recently was AD Cabofriense.
“This is the first time I visit to Asia . My agent has said to me about Yangon United and other Brazil players that played there. I want to achieve their success. I’m happy to be here to play for Yangon.” Marcelo Fernandes said to The Lions official website.
With the arrival of Marcelo Fernandes, Yangon United have secured the service of three Brazilians and now they are looking for an Asian player to fulfill the quota 3+1 foreigners to compete in the continental competitions.
Yangon United will start their 2016 AFC Champions League campaign with the trip to the third place of 2015 Thai Premier League in the second preliminary round.
