Boeung Ket Angkor talisman Chan Vathanaka capped an unforgettable week with a brilliant hat-trick as the Cambodian giants thumped Becamex Binh Duong 3-2 in the semi-final of 2015 Mekong Club Championship on Sunday.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder repaid the faith of head coach Prak Sovannara by finding the back of the net through penalty in the 40th then followed with another two goals in the 54th and 80th minutes.
Boeung Ket Angkor also maintained their 100 percent record since the beginning of tournament, where they defeated Myanmar and Laos champions, Yangon United and Lao Toyota FC in the first round.
The victory over Vietnamese champions Binh Duong at Hang Day Stadium in Hanoi sent the Cambodian C-League outfit qualify for the final stage to face Thai Premier League side Buriram United on December 20.
Vathanaka also becomes tournament’s leading scorer as took his tally to five goals, three ahead of his Nigerian team-mate Esoh Paul Omogba and Yangon United’s Brazilian striker Adilson dos Santos.
