V.League side Hoang Anh Gia Lai FC have tentatively agreed on a one-year loan of Nguyen Cong Phuong to Mito Hollyhock who have just finished J2 League season at 19th position. The signing ceremony will take place in Ha Noi on December 23.
The loan deal will see the promising striker who visited Japan in November become the second Vietnamese footballer playing in the J.League after Le Cong Vinh’s half-season spell with Consadole Sapporo back in 2013.
Cong Phuong, who is touted as Vietnamese Messi, expressed his delight at the imminent move and relished the opportunity of playing in Japan.
“I’m incredibly happy and excited to have become a member of Mito Hollyhock. I am grateful to the club for giving me a chance to play. Playing in a high-level competition such as the J.League will be a valuable experience for my career. Mito have a great stadium and very organized supporters, and I wish for their continued passionate support in 2016. I hope that there will be even more opportunities for my Vietnamese bretheren to play in the J.League in the future.”, said Cong Phuong on Mito Hollyhock’s official website.
The 20-year-old could be soon joined by his HAGL teammate Nguyen Tuan Anh who is also finalizing his deal with Yokohama FC.
