American-Vietnamese midfielder Lee Nguyen, who was named as a finalist for the 2014 version of the Major League Soccer MVP Award, has arrived in Vietnam for a promotional campaign. The former PSV youngster had previously played in the V.League for three seasons before joining MLS side New England Revolution in which his good form earned him a return to US national team.
Although Nguyen still has one year on his contract with The Revs, at least three V.League sides including capital outfit Ha Noi T&T have expressed their desire to sign the 29 year-old. However, transfer fee could be an obstacle as the 2014 Eastern Conference winners reportedly asked for US$ 1 million.
Among Nguyen’s admirers, FLC Thanh Hoa, who is under the strong backing of FLC Group, is the most serious as the club believes it could satisfy the Amerian star’s financial demand. In a recent interview, the club president Doan Van Phuong has confirmed he were in talks with the player’s agent about a potential move.
