Buriram United stay on course to meeting their target of claiming five titles this year when they added the Toyota Mekong Club Championship trophy to their spoils by edging Boeung Ket Angkor 1-0 in the final on Sunday.
A second-half penalty converted by Andres Tunez proved enough to give Buriram United their fourth title of the season with the victory over the Cambodian club.
Buriram remained unbeaten in 34 matches to retain the Thai Premier League crown last month and have also claimed the season-opening King’s Trophy and League Cup silverware this year.
They next face arch-rivals SCG Muang Thong United in the FA Cup title showdown on Saturday. Boeung Ket, who entered the final following victories over top-notch teams from Myanmar and Laos and last year’s champions Becamex Binh Duong of Vietnam, made pre-match favourites Buriram toil for the victory.
