Uzbekistan names squad for AFC U-23 Championship

U-23 head coach Samvel Babayan announced a squad for upcoming AFC U-23 Championship in Qatar.

Uzbekistan will play in Group C along with South Korea, Iraq and Yemen in the AFC U-23 Championship.

Babayan called 23 players to his squad. Almost of them are playing for Uzbek clubs except for FK Javor Ivanjica striker’s Husniddin Gafurov. Uzbek league top scorer Igor Sergeev also included.

Uzbek team will head to Dubai on 2 January to hold a training camp. After the camp, the delegation of Uzbekistan will fly to Qatar.

Uzbekistan will kick off tournament with the match against South Korea on 13 January. Uzbekistan will face Iraq on 16 January and Yemen on 19 January.

Top three teams of the tournament will receive tickets to Olympic Games in Rio de Jeneiro.
