have signed South Korea defender Rim Chang-woo on a two-year contract as a replacement for departed Asian-qualified star Hussain Fadhel.

Al Wahda have signed South Korea defender Rim Chang-woo on a two-year contract as a replacement for departed Asian-qualified star Hussain Fadhel.

Rim, 23, will head to the capital on Tuesday to complete the formalities on a deal worth $1 million from Ulsan Hyundai FC.

The versatile defender – a right-back who can also play in the middle – broke into the Taegeuk Warriors’ set-up last year and has earned three caps. His imminent arrival comes after centre-back Fadhel’s threeseason long, successive loan deal from Kuwait’s Qadsia SC was ended prematurely.

“Al Wahda is pleased to announce that they have signed the South Korean Rim Chang-woo, on a two-year contract as of January 2016 until 2018 as a replacement for the Kuwaiti Hussain Fadhel,” the Clarets announced on their website.

“The player will arrive on Tuesday morning to complete the registration procedures.”

Rim was a regular for Horangi during the 2015 K League Classic, scoring once in 27 games as they finished seventh. This followed a productive loan spell at Daejeon Citizen in the previous edition.
