The organising committee of the AFC U23 Championship has completed its arrangements for the opening ceremony of the event to be held on Tuesday at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
The AFC U-23 Championship will take place from 12-30 January in Doha. Hosts Qatar will kick off their Group A matches next Tuesday against China, before taking on Iran and Syria.
For the first time, the AFC U-23 Championship acts as the AFC qualifiers for the Olympic football tournament, replacing the previous process of home-and-away Olympic qualifiers.
The top three teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in Brazil as the AFC representatives.
Group A: Qatar, Syria, Iran, China PR
Group B: Saudi Arabia, Japan, Korea DPR, Thailand
Group C: Iraq, Korea Republic, Uzbekistan, Yemen
Group D: Jordan, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam
