Thailand U-23’s coach Kiatisuk has dedicated the point to Thai fans after 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia U-23 in the opening match of 2016 AFC U-23 Championship.
Pinyo Inpinit’s late strike cancelled out Mohammad Al Saiari’s 71st minute header and salvaged a deserved point for Thailand.
“Our main strategy was to not concede an early goal. We did really well in the first half and we tried to change the game in the second half and we created a few good chances in the game,” said Kiatisuk.
“Our actual goal for the game was three points but gaining one point is not so bad and we would like to give this point to our fans who have always been supporting us.”
On the other side, Saudi Arabia U-23’s coach Adrie Koster was disappointed when his team recorded only one point from the opening match.
“I must say our team surprised us, but in a negative way,” said Adrie Koster.
“After the training camp we didn’t expect we would play like today because from our side it was not good.
“When we had the ball we gave it away too easily and we didn’t start well. You get the penalty and then you can go 1-0 in front, but even that didn’t help us, we couldn’t score.”
