Man Utd wanted to sign Japanese full-back on loan in the transfer window but Inter defender Yuto Nagatomo rejected them.
As M.E.N. Sport reported, United tried to sign a full-back on loan in the winter window, with Olympiakos defender Omar Elabdellaoui ‘s agent confirming the club’s interest.
A private jet from Milan arrived at Manchester Airport on deadline day, fuelling speculation of a possible United signing, however Japan international Nagatomo wanted to remain with Inter.
“I like everything about Inter, I want to stay here and renew my contract,” the 29-year-old told Inter’s TV channel.
“I turned down an offer from Manchester United, as my desire is to stay here. I have an excellent rapport with Roberto Mancini.”
United’s one and only Japanese international, Shinji Kagawa, lasted a little over two years at the club before he re-joined Borussia Dortmund in 2014.
