The 24-year-old striker has agreed to join last year’s fourth-place team from Metallurg Bekabad, the club’s official website confirmed.

“Our club forward has joined the capital side FC Bunyodkor. The talented striker has signed a contract with FC Bunyodkor and has begun preparing for the new season”, the official statement read.

Shahzodbek Nurmatov played 99 league matches for Metallurg Bekabad between 2011 and 2015, scoring 35 goals. He was one of top scorers for the club in recent years and was a key contributors for their stable performances in the Uzbek league, despite never reaching more than 10 goals a season.

Nurmatov has also represented the national football team on three occasions since 2014, making his debut in a friendly match against Azerbaijan.

Bunyodkor has won the Uzbek league five times, but perhaps more well-known for signing World Cup winner Rivaldo, as well as appointing Brazilian legend Zico as their manager in 2008.
