V.League side SHB Da Nang FC has offered a contract to Minh Alva Vu and will register the Vietnamese-American player for the second stage of the 2016 V.League as soon as the deal is finalized.
The 25-year-old attacker, whose father is Vietnamese and mother is Spanish, is highly rated by the club for his intelligence and techniques.
Initially, it was reported that the Vietnamese-American player would be registered to play for SHB Da Nang in the first stage of the 2016 V.League. However, Minh Alva Vu’s name didn’t appear on the final list of registered players.
SHB Da Nang’s board explained that Vu has not acquired Vietnamese citizenship, so the club couldn’t spare a foreign player slot for him. Vu had to return to the United States to complete the paperwork.
“When he comes back with the papers to prove that he has Vietnamese citizenship, we will register him to play in the second stage of the 2016 V.League. It’s not a big deal, because his father is a Vietnamese”, SHB Da Nang FC president Bui Xuan Hoa told local newspaper.
“The paperwork has almost been completed, and I’ll come back to Vietnam in April. I’m really looking forward to playing for SHB Da Nang”, Vu said.
Minh Vu last played for Rochester Rhinos in the USL.
