Persib Bandung signed one-year contract with former Kitchee striker Juan Belencoso.
The contract included the option to sign an extension with the club, depending on his performances.
The club official source has confirmed that the Spanish striker signed a contract to play for them ahead of the match against Mitra Kukar last Thursday (March 17).
Persib Bandung has a policy of offering a two-year contract for players, but in Juan Belencoso’s case, the board said they would offer him an one-year extension in addition to his contract if he gave excellent performances.
“If his performances remain consistent, or if he is considered a key contributor to the team, then his contract will be extended”, Persib Bandung operating director Risha Adi Widjaja told local newspaper.
Juan Belencoso is expected to strengthen Persib Bandung’s attacking prowess, and he did play 75 minutes in the Mitra Kukar match. However the Spanish striker failed to score as his team was held to a 1-1 draw.
Belencoso made his name in Asia after a successful spell with Hong Kong Premier League outfit Kitchee, scoring an incredible 55 goals in 59 matches for the team.
