Chinese Super League outfit Jiangsu Suning are in danger of making a group stage exit in the Asian Champions League after a 2-1 loss to FC Tokyo at Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre on Wednesday.
Masato Morishige’s brace either side of Jo’s penalty earned the points for the J.League giants, with Jiangsu defender Li Ang receiving his marching orders inside the final five minutes.
The victory saw Tokyo moved to the top of the Group E standing ahead of South Korea’s Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, who were beaten 3-2 by Vietnamese side Becamex Binh Duong earlier on the day.
“I am quite disappointed with our performance in this game, and we particularly didn’t play well in the first half,” Jiangsu coach Dan Petrescu told AFC official website.
“We had some problems in defending set-pieces, which our opponents took advantage of, and we also failed to convert our chances.
“We still have two matches to go and I believe if we can do well in our remaining games we can still make the last 16,” he insisted.
