Iran face rivals South Korea in a gruelling test to qualify for 2018 World Cup, while Thailand have been handed a tough group when they were drawn in the third round of Asia’s qualifiers.
Group A will see Iran, South Korea, Uzbekistan, China and Syria battle it out to play at Russia. In Group B, Asian champions Australia will resume hostilities with Japan, along with Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq and Thailand.
The top two teams in each group will qualify automatically, while the two third-placed teams will clash in a two-legged play-off for the right to play the fourth-ranked CONCACAF nation.
