Iraq Football Association (IFA) has appointed Al Shorta SC manager Radhi Shenaishil as the head coach of its national team, official sources confirmed.
Shenaishil will replace Yahya Alwan, who resigned after the second round of 2018 World Cup qualification despite guiding the Lions of Mesopotamia to the third round.
The former Qatar SC manager is tasked with leading Iraq to qualify for 2018 World Cup as well as 2019 Asian Cup.
Previously, Shenaishil had two short stints with the Iraqi national team in 2009 and 2014 to 2015. He guided the team to a fourth-place finish in the 2015 Asian Cup.
