Reigning Thai League champions Buriram United have reportedly sold their full-back star Theerathon Bunmathan to domestic rivals Muangthong United.
Buriram announced teh transfer in an official statement on Wednesday night through their Facebook page, which was posted shortly after they finished Thai League midweek match 2-2 against Osotspa Samutprakan.
“Theerathon wanted to leave the club, to follow trials in J.League or K-League but we did not received any official offers,” Thadthep Pitakpulsin, the Buriram’s General Manager revealed on the club’s letter.
“So we considered the domestic club offers and let him choose, then he decided to join Muangthong.”
“We always want Theerathon to be one of our legend and we know that his departure will leave our fans disappointed, but it’s normal as a professional footballer,” he added.
Theerathon is a regular member of Buriram’s starting line-up under different coaches since 2010, where the 26-year-old has made 192 appearances for the Thunder Castle.
