Iranian gem scored a goal in the fifth consecutive match, giving Rostov a 1-0 win over Ural in the second last round of the Russian Premier League, which secured the second place and a certain spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League qualfiying for the dark horses.
Azmoun scored the winning goal in the 75th minute with a header, making it nine in total this season, with six of the having been scored since April 24th.
After Zenit only drawing their game on Sunday, Rostov, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, secured at least the seventh placed.
Should Rostov win the last match away against Milad Mohammadi’s Terek Grozny in Moscow and CSKA lose in Kazan, the underdogs would even become league champions and gain a direct berth to Champions League group stage.
