A Chinese Super League from Shanghai is interested in signing Congolese striker Cedric Bakambu from Villarreal, according to reports.
With the Chinese league transfer windows opening on June 21, clubs are preparing bids for foreign as well as domestic players. Sources said a Shanghai-based club will make a bid for Bakambu, however the club in question is likely to face competition from unnamed Serie A clubs.
Cedric Bakambu joined Villarreal in 2015 and has generally impressed with 12 league goals from 34 appearances, helping the team to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
The former Bursaspor player has also represented Democratic Republic Congo at international level since 2015, scoring 3 goals in 7 appearances.
