Chinese Taipei has qualified for the second preliminary round of qualifying for the 2017 EAFF East Asian Cup after a 3-2 comeback victory against Macau on Monday.
The victory gave Chinese Taipei a perfect record in the first preliminary round, following their 8-1 thrashing of Northern Mariana Islands and a 2-0 win over Mongolia last week.
With 9 points from 3 matches and a goal difference of +10, Chinese Taipei finished top of the group and advanced to the second preliminary round of qualifying from November 5 to November 18. The team will face Guam, North Korea and Hong Kong in the second round.
Chinese Taipei player Lin Chieh-Hsun was named MVP and top scorer of the preliminary round with seven goals.
The winner of the four-team group will join host Japan, China and South Korea in the 2017 EAFF East Asian Cup finals next year.
