Besides fans and club officials, reportedly there were a few people in the stands, secretly taking notes in the Champions League playoff match between Russian outfit Rostov and Belgian opponent Anderlecht. Amongst those whom these secret identities took note of was Rostov’s goal scorer, a petit and goal-hungry striker with the name of Sardar Azmoun. According to Bundesliga side Schalke 04’s website, the 21-year-old Iranian striker is on the radar of the German club to be signed during Summer to replace the outgoing Leroy Sane.
Other media outlets such as Spoxe, Fourfourtwo and Goal Germany also hinted that FC Schalke 04, Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool, Everton and Marseille’s scouts were seen on the stands watching the speedy striker. Azmoun, who is currently under contract with Rostov until 2018, has an impressive goal tally of 22 goals in 30 international appearances for Iran national team, and 17 goals in 64 games in the Russian League.
It is worth a note that Rostov manager, Kurban Berdyev, who had a close relationship with the prospect, resigned last week and is linked with top Russian league clubs and also Russia national team. It is yet to be seen if European clubs’ interest in Azmoun materializes before the end of summer transfer market.
