Al Nasr striker Santos Monteiro Junior has been suspended from playing football in Asia for 60 days. The footballer will be investigated into his nationality status.

The suspension and the pending investigation is said to be based on a statement by Indonesian state authorities that the Indonesian passport held by Wanderley was a forged or falsified document.

Wanderley has just joined Al Nasr at the start of the season. He played in an AFC Champions League 2016 match against El Jaish and scored two goals. According to regulations, any player participating in the ACL with forged or falsified document submitted during the registration stage will be deemed ineligible.

Previously, he had stints with Al-Arabi and Al-Sharjah, as well as Brazilian clubs Cruzeiro and Flamengo.
