Malaysia national football coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee has made some changes for next month’s friendlies against Singapore and Afghanistan.
On Wednesday, the former international dropped four players – Brendan Gan and Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor of Kelantan, Mohammad Amer Saidin of Johor Darul Ta’zim II and Malacca’s Khair Muhammad Jefri Jones – from the team who were thrashed 3-0 by Indonesia in a friendly in Solo on Sept 6.
In comes five new additions – Mohd Fazrul Hazli Kadri of Perak, Muhammad Hadin Azman of Felda United, Ahmad Khuzaimi Piee of Malacca and Kedah’s Mohd Rizal Ghazali and Mohd Syazwan Zainon – to the 25-man training squad.
Kim Swee also recalled Perak’s Nazirul Naim Che Hashim who pulled out of the Indonesian friendly after suffering a last-minute injury.
Malaysia, the world No. 158, will play No. 155 Singapore at the National Stadium in Singapore on Oct 7 and No. 149 Afghanistan at the Shah Alam Stadium on Oct 11.
Kim Swee is using the friendlies to prepare for the AFF Suzuki Cup from Nov 19-Dec 17. Malaysia are in Group B with hosts Myanmar, Vietnam and a yet-to-be-named qualifier.
