Former and national team player Phan Van has decided to retire from playing football.

The decision was made by Phan Van Tai Em after his club Dong Tam Long An refused to renew his contract for one more year.

The veteran midfielder didn’t play much in the previous season due to recurring injuries, and his retirement is not completely unexpected.

During his career, Phan Van Tai Em had won the AFF Suzuki Cup in 2008 with the Golden Stars, as well as the V.League title twice in 2005 and 2006 with Dong Tam Long An. He also won the Vietnam Golden Ball award in 2005.
