Indonesia national team head coach Alfred Riedl said the 2-2 draw against Vietnam is an acceptable result, considering that the Golden Stars is a “strong” opponent at the moment.
Vietnam scored two goals in the first 15 minutes at the Maguwoharjo Stadium, but the Golden Stars’ sloppy defense quickly surrendered the lead in the first-half.
“We didn’t start strongly enough and conceded two early goals, but from then on we took the game to them and kept them on their feet constantly”, the Austrian coach told local newspapers.
“Generally we are satisfied with the result because Vietnam is such a strong team”, Riedl said.
Meanwhile, Vietnam national coach Nguyen Huu Thang though Indonesia did a good job to come back from two goals down against his team.
“I think both teams play really well today. Indonesia deserves compliments, because they did a good job to come back against us. Very well done”, the former Song Lam Nghe An manager said.
