Vietnam national team captain Le Cong Vinh has announced his retirement from football following a 4-3 defeat on aggregate in the semi-final of the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup.
The 31-year-old striker has talked about his retirement from the national team before, but this time around he made it clear that he would retire from club football as well.
Le Cong Vinh has represented Vietnam in international tournaments since 2004. The 30-year-old striker has scored 51 goals in 85 appearances for the Golden Stars, including an equalizer against Thailand in the second leg of the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup Final, which helped Vietnam won the tournament for the first time.
He also scored twice in the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup.
